So far, so good. Though I don't have a PC yet. I should expect my PC to arrive either tomorrow or Friday. They bought new PCs for the whole company. The brand that they chose was DELL because DELL has an ongoing promotion for office PCs.

Anyway, that's beside the main point for my blog entry today. Let me share to you how God has blessed me with this new job. First and foremost, I have complaining countless number of times about my old job. Thank you for those people who have listened to my rants and complaints. There are 4 major things why I didn't like my job.

1. I don't learn much.
Yes. I really don't learn much. I want to learn how to start my own business, so that is why I'm currently working in a small company rather than a large company. I have experienced working in a large company already, and it didn't teach me much about starting my own business. Working in a large company won't help you to learn much things on starting my own business because all the processes are already fixed. You do a certain aspect of the business, and you don't get to see the big picture. Also, in my old company, what I do is do maintenance work for card printers, help customers with their problems, and create a company website. These things are too easy and I don't get to learn much.

2. Low pay
In my old job, the pay is considerable low. I talked with my dad about it and he said that it's okay. This is just a stepping stone for me to go to Hong Kong to work. Well, that is true. It was only a stepping stone for me to go to Hong Kong to work because the experience that I will get working in Hong Kong will be much, much different from the experience that I will get by working in the Philippines.

3. Too far from my home
Yes. Sha tin is really far from my home (I live in North Point, Hong Kong Island). It takes me 30 minutes to get to work by bus and it costs me 31 HKD per day just for transportation! It is that expensive.

4. Smart card program
My dad and I are planning to start a business that concerns programming stuff in smart cards. Sad to say, in my old company, they didn't teach me how to do it. They hardly taught me anything because the guy there was lazy and afraid that I would be the one who would replace him someday since jobs in Hong Kong are very competitive.

I prayed to God that He would bless me with another job. A better job than the job I had. He did answer my prayer! Actually, it was prayers. My parents and grandma prayed for me too. In my new job:

1. I think I will learn much.
This company that I'm in is a technical company. It offers business solutions to restaurants and hotels. They have the loyalty card promo for Ruby Tuesday Kuwait and Intercontinental Hotels Group in Kuwait. I'm currently learning how to program in ASP and use MS SQL for the database.

2. Higher pay.
This company offered me a higher pay than my old one. In addition to that, I would receive a raise when I finish my regularization period (3 months).

3. Near
This new company is quite near to my home. I now work in Central, the business district in Hong Kong. I always wanted to work in Central. But I don't want to have lunch in Central because there are a lot of people during lunch time! And I mean, A LOT!

4. Smart card business
Our main business plan is starting a loyalty program for restaurants and hotels. Actually, this is a great opportunity because this company offers this kind of service! How ironic! :)

5. Travel
I didn't mention travel in my other company because I was not given the chance. I always wanted to travel! My current boss talked to me awhile ago and told me that I will accompany him going to Kuwait for a business trip! Imagine! I can go to another country for free! Well, I can take a look around during the weekends there. Such a great opportunity because I love traveling to different places in the world.

Overall, I really regard this new company as a great blessing from God. Actually, to be honest, even before I interviewed for this position, I have already felt that everything is part of God's plan and His plan is for me to join this new company. Ever felt something so certain even before it was given to you? Well, I thought and felt this while I was washing dishes (what a time to be reflecting!:P) and preparing myself for the interview.

This is really a great blessing from God. Just want to offer up my thanksgiving to the Lord! :) :)

Reflection on Work (Both Past and Present)

The other day, I was talking to Joyce about support work. I was telling her a lot of stuff that I did not like about support work and how America is controlling poor countries like the Philippines. Here are some of my reflections on the two subjects: Support Work and America.

- Support Work
After working for HP as service management (SM) for 14 months, here are some of my insights regarding service management work. To be honest, when I entered HP, I did not know what service management meant. I just thought, "Wow! I'm going to work in HP and it's my dream company! I'm really excited!" Though my dad did not really approve that I work in HP, he still gave me his approval to work in HP because he knew that I wanted to work in HP. To be real honest, I did not really like support work. Firstly, it was because of the weird times that we were required to work. Since WOM is a global application, we work on shifts (Asia shift, EMEA shift, and NA shift). It ruins your body clock, especially NA shift. I really, really hate NA shift. You can't really have a good decent sleep if your on NA shift. Because the whole Philippines is awake and you're the only one sleeping. (Poor people working in call centers.) Even though the compensation for working on shifts is good, but your health would still deteriorate. Would you give up your health just to work on shifts? Well, that the question is really up to you to answer. Secondly, if you're working as SM and a page comes along, you would have to cut short your lunch. That really sucks! You really deserve a break time to sit down and eat dinner. But you couldn't because you got work to do. Yeah, people would tell me, you can still have your break later on. But what if you're eating out with your friends and you're the Duty Manager (DM) for that shift? You would have to tell your friends that you have to go because you have work to do. And the incident depends on the impact or level of the incident. Lastly, service management seldomly offers opportunities for travel. One of the main reasons that I chose HP to work to is because of the opportunity to travel. Sadly, for WOM, there was only one travel for the year 2007. Just imagine, only 1! I really envy my other batchmates in other teams that they got the opportunity to go to other countries for work. I really love travelling, and it really sucks that I did not get the chance to travel to another country. Well, that's life.. :)

- America
My point of view on America is really on the negative side. I don't know if I became anti-American nowadays or what. But these are just the things that I noticed about them. During meetings, they would often schedule a meeting that is convenient for them. Let's say, they would schedule it 8 am or 9 am in the morning. For them, they're already sacrificing because they have to come to office one hour earlier just for the meeting. But come to think of it, what about people in Asia? It's night time already here in Asia! Didn't they think that some people have been working since 9 am in the morning and they would still schedule the meeting 8 pm or 9 pm Asia time? That's really inconsiderate of them. Just like what Joyce told me that other day. She was in the office since 9 am and she has to stay until 3 am in the morning just for a conference call. Wow! Talk about being considerate! More or less, you stayed in the office already for 24 hours! That's tripled that work time required for people right? Shouldn't work be 8 hours a day only? In addition to that, those people in America are just there sitting pretty. When it comes to conference calls, they just talk and talk. They don't really do the work. Poor countries do the work for them (outsourcing). They just talk and tell people what they want to be done or want to achieve. They don't really do any work. Well, there are really many factors behind that. Such as colonial mentality, low labour costs, etc. Back in grade school and high school, you would really read in books that America is a great country. Especially in the Philippine history area which talks about the Spaniards, Americans, and Japanese. Guess who among the three, according to the book, gave so much contribution to the Philippines. Yup! You are right! The Americans. Also, the cost of living in the Philippines is relatively low. Just imagine, the salary of a CEO in the Philippines is just equivalent to a white collared or a blue collared regular employee in the Philippines. That's how low the salary of a non-American in a poor country is. Talk about discrimination!

Finally, when I was interviewing for a job here in Hong Kong, when asked, "What work did you do in HP?" I could find the words to describe my work. When I tell them service management work. They would ask me, what is service management work? I told them I do support work, meaning post-production work, and we have clients all over the world. They would tell me, so it's like a call center. I told them, something like that. To be honest, there are only a few differences between service management work and a call center work. In service management, you don't really get to talk to clients directly. That's the main diffence. Otherwise, its almost basically the same. Also, I remember what my cousin told me. What your work is right now would really impact on what you do in the future. For example, if you're currently a security guard, the next job that you will find would still be a security guard because that has been your experience, and you already know the ropes, the not-to's, etc. of being a security guard. In other words, no matter what kind of job you do, you'll basically do the same kind of job again in the future. Unless, you would choose another career path, which would basically mean starting again from scratch.

My Friends 朋友 - Dedicated to My HS Barkada

Lately, I've been playing and playing this song again and again and again... Currently, I think this is one of my favorite songs. Below are the lyrics of the songs:

這些年一個人
All these years, alone
風也過雨也走
The wind has passed, the rain has gone
有過淚有過錯
There were tears, there were wrongs
還記得堅持什麼
Things we hold dear I still recall
真愛過才會懂
If you've had true love, then you would know
會寂寞會回首
There is loneliness, there are goodbyes
終有夢終有你在心中
There are dreams, always there is you in my heart
朋友一生一起走那些日子不再有
Friends walk this life together
一句話一輩子
One word, one life
一生情一杯酒
A lifetime relationship, a cup of wine
朋友不曾孤單過
With friends you won't be lonely
一聲朋友你會懂
Lifelong friends, you'd understand
還有傷還有痛
There are wounds, there is pain
還要走
Must go our separate ways
還有我
Always there is me

This is a great song about friendship. Chinese words really have deep meanings. I did not translate this. I just lifted it from a website. Haha! Also, I really, really hate it when they translate the words, especially to Tagalog. It really loses the essence of the meaning of the words or songs. In short, nagiging skwater pakinggan! Especially the Kim Chiu and MYMP song. Yuck! Don't mix two languages together in one song please! Anyways, this song is dedicated to my whole barkada: Joyce, Sheena, Lawrence, Louise, Kesmin, Jumie, Mary, Tim, and Andrew. :) Miss you guys! :)

<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/get_player" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"width="320" height="266" bgcolor="#FFFFFF"flashvars="flvurl=http://v16.nonxt2.googlevideo.com/videoplayback?id%3D6a411813485c75a7%26itag%3D5%26app%3Dblogger%26ip%3D0.0.0.0%26ipbits%3D0%26expire%3D1331590352%26sparams%3Did,itag,ip,ipbits,expire%26signature%3D4690AF979BC4B9170ACADD4058A31DBA9A24977B.274735CDF3473911F2190DA92C04936B32FBBA4C%26key%3Dck1&iurl=http://video.google.com/ThumbnailServer2?app%3Dblogger%26contentid%3D6a411813485c75a7%26offsetms%3D5000%26itag%3Dw160%26sigh%3Dpd9QuVZHh1nPAXFql72JrAer1sk&autoplay=0&ps=blogger"allowFullScreen="true" />

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://elijahlao8.blogspot.com/2008/06/my-friends-dedicated-to-my-hs-barkada.html' title='My Friends 朋友 - One Day After Tuen Ng Festival

It's great that there's no work today! Got to rest for one more since considering that I have five and a half days work. I really like this day because I get to really enjoy the holiday. Unlike when I was working in HP, even during holidays, we have work (which really sucks, but you can't do anything about it.) Woke up at around 9:30 am today, watched game 2 of the NBA finals. Referees in the game are so stupid! Ticky tac fouls are being called against the Lakers, but the obvious fouls against the Celtics aren't being called! It's like the Lakers were up against two opponents (Refs and the Celtics)! Anyway, the Lakers made an amazing comeback, but fell short (which is too bad). Had lunch with my cousin, Lloyd, grandma, and grandma's church friends at a Chinese dimsum restaurant near our place. In the afternoon, I just slept and woke up at around 5 pm. Got work tom. I'm want an extended vacation, and did I mention that I hate Saturday work???

Black Rain in Hong Kong

This is the first time that I experienced black rain in Hong Kong. Rain was falling non-stop and some of the streets in Hong Kong are already flooded. It seems that they separate the signals for rain and wind. For rain, it's yellow rain, red rain, and black rain. Yellow, I think, classes are suspended for the kindergarten level and primary level. Red, for high school and college. Black, for all of Hong Kong, meaning people who are working. For the hurricane signals, I'm not quite sure of the number. But the worst that I've experienced was signal number 8. My umbrella was being blown away. Wind was very strong, and I mean very strong. Offices were suspended and people were asked to go home. It was very crowded in the MTR. People kept pushing each other. Made me reminisce my experience with the MRT in Manila. Actually, people in Manila who are riding the MRT always push each other around. It made me think if people here are more disciplined than the people in Manila. But according to my dad, Hong Kong people are scary which is why people don't push each other around. Well, I got home that day safe, but I won't forget that day. That was the only time that someone pushed me inside the MTR (other than the MRT in Manila). Well, I get to rest today. No half day work on Saturdays! :) Yehey! Monday is a holiday too. So, I get more or less 3 days vacation. Which is great! :)

My Hong Kong Life

Been here in Hong Kong for 2 weeks already. So far, so good. I'm enjoying myself. If only we didn't have the school in Manila, we would have migrated here in Hong Kong. Everything is so convenient. Transportation is awesome! No stupid bus drivers, like in Manila, causing all the traffic waiting for customers. There's hardly any traffic at all here in Hong Kong! The bus that I take is Bus 168. It normally takes me 30 minutes to go to my office is Sha Tin. Imagine, from North Point (Hong Kong Island) to Sha Tin (New Territories), it only takes me 30 minutes! And Sha Tin is very far from North Point. In addition to that, Sha Tin is where Cecilia lives. I can crash at here place when she's here in Hong Kong! (I hope!) After a long time of no blogging, here I am, blogging again. Here are a few updates with my life so far:

Life

Life is great right now! New country! New language to learn and new culture. To be honest, a better country than the Philippines because this is a first world country. Everything is so high tech! You can purchase movie tickets online, pay for them using your mobile phone! (I saw this is a Japanese show that they have this in Japan) You don't have to line up. So far, I'm definitely enjoying. Oh, did I mention that the food here is awesome! Haha!

Work

Work so far is okay. The company I'm working for is Smartcard Systems Limited here in Hong Kong. So far, work has been boring. They asked me to update their website. I've finished updating the site and is now uploading them to the internet. I used a free web hosting (Zymic, I think is that name) to store the site temporarily. My cousin (the one who referred me to the company) is in Taiwan, so he can't really approve if the website can be posted already. The office is so far away, I spend $30.4 HKD per day just for the bus ride! The food, on the other hand, costs around $30 HKD! So, in a day, I spend more or less $60 HKD! That's P300+! Haha! It's too expensive. Got to save money!

Friends

Friends so far have been great. Met a few of them already when I was here last March. We went out last Saturday and watched Indiana Jones. Movie was okay. I'm not really an Indiana Jones fan. The movie that I'm waiting for is Batman the Dark Knight which comes out this July 2008! Can't wait for it!

Church

Went to ECC (Evangelical Community Church) for Sunday worship last Sunday. This church is a one of a kind church, I tell you! This is the only church that I know who offers unlimited Starbucks while having the message! You offer $10 HKD as donation! Imagine! $10 HKD only and you get unlimited Starbucks! Wow! That's incredible! Most people going to this church are Americans. (Well, the message is in English, that's why! Haha!)

Love Life

Just one word to sum it up: ZERO. Haha! My dad had lunch with me at terriyaki boy in Banawe. Too bad my bro and my mom wasn't there because my mom stayed in the office because she needs to be there all the time, and my brother was in school. Well, after dinner, I went to the office and my teammates and officemates greeted me :) Also, my friends, both college and high school greeted me also. I also received a greeting from her. She greeted me by leaving a message in my yahoo messenger. I don't know if I'm feeling bad because I didn't greet her on her birthday last January. Well, a part of me is telling me that I should have greeted her. But a part of me is telling me that I did the right thing. Because I'll admit that I'm disappointed that everything didn't work out so well. And the all the reasons that she gave me, for me was unacceptable. Well, okay, I'll admit that I got mad at that time at her that's why I didn't greet her. Why greet someone if you're not greeting her whole-heartedly, right? Don't know what I should have done. Well, past is past. Everything's in the past.

Fast-forward to March 10 (Saturday). Joyce, Sheena, and I treated our barkada to dinner at avenido's . I should have gone earlier so that the food was still hot. But I went to the gym and finished around 7:20. Went to Greenbelt parking to leave my bad and back again to Glorietta. On the way, I met a lot of Atenean friends. (Ritz, Rica, Ellaine, and Kris). I arrived at the restaurant and the food was already cold. After dinner, five of us went to watch 300. (Lawrence, Louise, Tim, Bry, and me). The movie was awesome! Even though it had so much gore and violent scenes. But the movie was awesome! :) I suddenly remembered Mr. David Lozada when he was discussing this historical event during History 18 class. Story telling was Dave Lozada's style of teaching. Imagine, it has been 3 yrs and I still remember some of his story. Wow! Haha! Well, that's all for now :)

March 6, 2007

Finished training today at the 88 Corporate Center in Makati. It's a two day training on how to give an effective presentation. I learned a lot from the training. Well, usually, when I present. I always stutter. I don't know why. Maybe because I'm nervous. I found out that people transfer there nervousness onto something. Sometimes a speaker may lean on the table. He's transferring his nervousness onto the table. Or sometimes a speaker leans on the wall, he's again, transferring his nervousness onto the wall. Cool huh! :) Also, in creating a powerpoint presentation, you first have to create your introduction first and then your conclusion second. I was surprised to learn that conclusion is the second thing that you have to do. I always thought that the body of the powerpoint presentation should be the second thing that you have to do after the introduction. Guess I was wrong :) Tomorrow, I'll go to the gym at 10 am. By the way, I'm enrolled at Gold's gym since this is one of HP's benefits. For me, I think Fitness First is better than Gold's Gym. Well, the C.R. at Fitness First is more beautiful that the C.R. at Gold's Gym. Haha! Another day of work tom. :) My teammate and I will treat our whole team tom. I'm treating my team because it's my birthday on Thurs., and my other teammate is treating because she's celebrating the release of the new version of our project :) It's going to be a fun day tom.! :) Too bad that I'm not bringing a car anymore tom. I sure wish that I have a CR-V. That's my dream car :) hahaha! Now, there's a 65,000 pesos discount for the old model, but brand new CR-V. I'm convincing my dad to buy the CR-V instead of the Civic. Dunno why. But I like CR-V more than the new Civic. haha! :) That's all for now :)

March 4, 2007

It's been a really, really long time since I've written on my blog. Or people just say that there is hope to give hope to those who have no hope". Just a philosophical statement that i've thought of :) i can't believe it! I'm becoming a philosophical nerd. it's so uncharacteristic of me. hahaha!

this week is a much better week compared to last week. so far, the only school work that i have to do is my php project. But I hope that sir agloro and sir de vera would extend the deadline. haha!

last friday, we had a IT career talk. 4 companies went to the talk. So, what's happening now? Been busy with so much school work lately. This week is a hell week for me. CS112 midterms and Ma22 long test #3 all in one day! And to add to that, my CS112 midterms started at 3:30 pm and ended at 4:30 pm. Then my ma22 long test started at 4:30 and ended at 6:00. Very tiring day for me. When I got home, I wanted to relax so I played dota with my friends online. But, that isn't the end of it all. Weds was my ma22 midterms. Boy! It was very, very, very hard!!! I really am amazed how math teachers think! They think of questions that are so complex that they want to make the lives of their students so miserable! It doesn't end there. Tomorrow, on the other hand, is my defense for my patches project in CS112. I have to review my code coz I forget it all already since a month has already passed! Haha! Good thing that my program works for both linux and windows. (Actually, I didn't check if it would work in Linux. hehe!) By the way, thanks guys (Pao, Neill, and JV) for helping me and teaching me C programming. Owe you guys one! :) Now, that's my academic life. Sounds boring. All study.. So boring.. Well, the other part of the life is also very boring. hehe!

Love life is a big fat zero. One thing to sum it all up with what happened between me and her is that "GIRLS = MAGULO". Ever thought that there was this person that you met and you developed a great relationship (but she didn't become my GF. Something close to that, but she was never my girlfriend) and in the end, because of some reason that I find very shallow, she ends everything. Our relationship was already very complicated from the start (much problems and stuff), but I always thought that we would surpass them all. But I was wrong. To be honest, I really thought it was her already; but, I was wrong. There was a time during my freshman year in college that my friend tried that tarot card on me. I can still remember her visions of my future. It was so scary because she barely knew me because it was just 3 months since we started studying in Ateneo. What she said about my past was correct! I was stunned. Then she told me my "future". She told me that in the future, I would meet a certain girl. But don't be serious with that girl because she will just break your heart. You don't have much success with girls, but in the end, you'll eventually find the right woman. I don't know why, but what my friend told me about my future, I never forgot it. I don't know why. I thought the girl that would break my heart was the girl before "her", but I was wrong. I think the girl that will break my heart, was really her. Sad. Well, it's time to move on. Past is past, let's not dwell on the past, as my ym status said the other night ago. It's so sad that all the hopes, dreams, everything faded away at once. There are times, I admit, that I regret everything that has happened between us. Sometimes I wish that we didn't meet at all. Well, life goes on. There are lots of others out there. She isn't the only girl in the world.. Hehe!
Enough of that. No more crying over spilled milk. That's all for today :) hehe!

April 21, 2006

Last Wednesday, it was my first time to commute home alone. What an experience! My first time! Hahaha! My first time to commute home, but it was with a friend was just this Tuesday. Haha! It was both exciting and scary at the same time. Haha! Yesterday, woke up at around 6:30 am! I thought I was going to be late. Turned out that when I arrived in Makati, it was just 8 am! I took my usual walk from the MRT Buendia station to Citibank building. Every time I walk along Paseo de Roxas, I notice a building. I really, really like its design. I don't know why. It's the building beside the Hotel before Makati Ave. Anyway, arrived at the office at 8:20. It takes me 20 mins. to walk from the station to the office. It's my morning exercise! :D Hehe! I don't get to play basketball anymore because I come home late. So, this is my exercise! :) Walking. haha! That Thursday was a very very embarassing day. We heard from an officemate of our who works in Citibank that if you want to meet beautiful girls, you should go to the 12th floor of the building. Our boss heard that one of my co-interns wanted to meet them. She arranged that the three os us, interns, go up the 12th floor to bring something to her friend. We went up and got the surprise of our life! Our boss played a joke on us! Well, not really a joke. haha! Our boss told the person up in the 12th floor, to whom we were bringing the food, to tour us around the room! It was so embarassing! We were like supervisors there touring every inch of the room. haha! We didn't get to notice if there were beautiful girls there because the LCD monitors caught of attention instead. Actually, I just tagged along I'm not looking for any girls either. I'm waiting for someone special :) No need to look in any other direction because I have found who I'm looking for :) There we 2 LCD monitors on the tables where an employee sits there and uses the 2 LCD monitors. The 2 monitors are both 21-inch monitors! Wow! In our office, we three interns share just one computer! How then can you expect to program a project within one week with just one computer? Right? haha! That day was a great day. During lunch, our boss treated us to lunch! :) She ordered North Park for us to eat. And the other officemate of ours, the regular employee, treated us to dinner by ordering Shakeys! :) It was his first pay day! haha! We were very lucky :) By the way, Citibank's pay day is on the 5th day of the month and on the 20th day of the month :) We interns didn't get our allowance yet because we just started last April 17. We are going to get our first allowance on the 5th day of May :) I'm excited! haha! My first ever pay from a company :) Friday, today, was just a usual day. I got to meet two interns today. I forgot the other intern's name, but the other one is sandy, whom I met at the cafeteria of the building. I hope to meet the other interns as well since we are 68 all in all interns. There are about 20+ Ateneans there in Citibank and the next school with the most students in Citibank is UP. Then, DLSU. Then UA&P. And the other schools. hehe! After work, I met up with my family at Greenhills because my brother went there to buy a new cellphone. He bought the Motorolla phone. The slim, black phone. I too looked around and I found my future graduation gift from my parents :) I want a PDA-cellphone. So far, the phone that I have chosen is the O2 Atom cellphone. I also considered the O2 IIi cellphone, but it was too big. I want something small so that it could fit in my pocket. Something as big as the O2 Mini. haha! I'm still undecided. Or maybe I can buy the P990 which is coming up soon. It's the latest version of the P910i phone by SONY. By October, I'll be buying one of those phones or better because I'll be graduating this October :) I hope and pray to work in HP someday. hehe! Or maybe, I'll go to Hong Kong. This is my last summer semester! Huhuhu! And my last first semester is coming up soon! :) I'm really excited to graduate. To be able to see someone again (that's the real reason that I want to graduate!:)) and to work to earn money for myself :) hehe!

Holy Week and First Day to work at Citibank Makati (April 17, 2006)

Just got my internet connection restored yesterday. If given that there is another dsl provider in our area, I would definitely change to that dsl provider and would unsubscribe myself from pldt. Service is not good, and the internet connection is so slow (mine is the personal plan, 2500 pesos, 768k speed). On some days, I get only 200+k connection speed! Such a waste of money. I hope Bayantel would be able to connect a line here somewhere because our area is a pldt dominated area. haha! Today, I had my first day of OJT in Citibank :) Our boss is Veronica Fernando. She seems very serious, but she laughs sometimes. Haha! I don't know. Haha! Tomorrow will be my second day. Actually, I'm enthusiastic to work in Citibank. I don't know why. Maybe it's because I want to try to win the Super Summer Intern Award of citibank. Haha! It would be a great honor to receive that award. Well, that's all for now. Got to study macros and visual basic for my work tom.! :) Until next time! :)

April 6, 2006

Got word from the Hong Kong company that they are not hiring employers for just 2 months. Too bad. haha! I'll try again in October because by that time, I'm already a graduate. But, of course, there are several factors to consider if ever I'll be going to Hong Kong for work. Of course, the first and most important of all the factors is her. Imagine that we'll be apart for one year. It's even farther because we are in different countries already. That's the biggest and main factor in my decision if I'm going to Hong Kong to work. Second is that I'll be alone (Well, not completely alone because relatives on my dad's side are there) and I don't know how to speak Cantonese. So, I really, really have to learn how to speak Cantonese. Good thing that I got accepted in Citibank, so I'll be working there this April 17. I won't be accepting Accenture (if ever I get in) and STORM anymore. I'm already excited for my first day of work this April 17! Imagine, working in Citibank. Haha! Also, the funny thing is that 3 of cousins work or have worked in Citibank. It's so funny because the one who interviewed me for the job is an officemate and church mate of my cousin, and a fellow almnus of Grace Christian High School (I'm not being proud of my high school. I'm just stating the name. There's nothing to be proud about Grace. NOTHING.) It's really a small small world. Haha! I think that the OJT Program of Citibank is good just like the Summer OJT Program of PLDT and other companies. Excited to work for my first day! :) Hehe

What is your role in a relationship?

You often find it hard to believe you are worthy of the love and attention given to you by your partner, and always worry he/she could do much better than you.

Your insecurity sometimes leads you to pushing people away, or holding on too tightly. Either way, your relationships often end in tears.

Maybe you had your heart broken in the past, or have a low self-esteem - whatever the reasons are, you struggle to see what other people see in you. Some people will find this frustrating, but there will be someone out there who will delight in telling you just how fab you really are until you start to believe it yourself.

Most compatible with: The Hopeless Romantic

The Romantic will never tire of telling you how much they love you, and you will never tire of hearing it! You need someone who will give you constant reassurance, who will be prepared to make grand romantic gestures whenever you are feeling particularly insecure and will stand by you if you push or pull on them. The Romantic will do all these things and some, always making sure you know that you are the only one they could ever want.

Least compatible with: The Free Spirit

The Free Spirit won't ever show you their affection in ways obvious enough for you. You would feel constantly on edge as they flitted from one place to the next, not really caring if you followed or not. Haha! I'll be working in the QA (Quality Assurance) Department. What I'll do is that I'll make a program that converts text files to excel files. Hmm.. This is kinda hard. haha! Well, at least, I'm sure that I'll do something rather than just sit around and do nothing. Haha! 300 pesos per day is not bad. haha! How I will go to Makati is the problem since I don't know how to commute! haha! But, I'm still waiting for Hong Kong. I got till this Friday to decide. I hope and pray that the company in Hong Kong will reply to my email. It's really a good opportunity. Haha! If the company does not reply by Friday, I'll take citibank. But if the company replies before Friday, I'll take the company in Hong Kong. hehe! :) Happy day today! :D

April 5, 2006

I'm so hungry right now. The students are not leaving yet. So, we can't eat! haha! I hope that they leave soon. Our food is Tapa King, good thing that DISCS is sponsoring our lunch for the whole practicum period so we won't spend anything for our food. Later today, I have an interview with citibank for my OJT. I hope that I get in Citibank. Actually, these are my choices for summer internship, and they are ranked by number. 1. Hong Kong, Systems Ltd, I hope to get in this company because it's in Hong Kong! Going to another country is something. Also, I will be paid around 3k to 5k Hong Kong dollar. That's a lot of money for an intern! haha! 2. Citibank, because it's a great privilege to be able to work in a multinational company. 3. STORM, actually, I got accepted already. I got the text message that I got accepted last night around 8 pm. Well, for me, there are good points and bad points in joining this company. First, it's a start-up company. We have to bring our own laptops for work. It's a hassle if you don't have a car to ride in. It's a laptop. It costs a lot of money. Robbers would be tempted to steal from you. Second point is that we work in a condominium and not in an office. I won't get the real feel or working in an office. But, there are good points as well. Because it's a start up company, so, I can get ideas if I start my own business some day. Well, actually, that's the main good point :D hehe! EAting time! At last! haha! I hope God answers my prayers :D Hehe!

Hong Kong OJT and other stuff

Just received an email from my 2nd cousin that the person that I've contacted for my OJT in Hong Kong is on leave! Wow! How am I going to know then if I got accepted or not? Haha! I hope that he comes back quickly so that I can prepare all the things that I need to do before April 17. Haha!

Today, I was late for my practicum with ASPC. Traffic was very heavy especially on EDSA. All the buses, jeeps and taxis kept stopping causing traffic! Sometimes I just wish that there were no buses, jeeps, and taxis anymore. They're the ones causing the traffic! Not the private vehicles. The number coding scheme should only apply to them and not to the private vehicles! They are very inconsiderate especially jeepney drivers! The swerve from one side of the road to the other side of the road, and stop almost any time causing traffic! I liked my brother's plan when he said he would make an EMP (Electromagnetic pulse) so that he could zap all the jeepneys, rendering them worthless. This would cause much traffic, but at least, it would get rid of all the jeepneys. Haha! I'm bad. But not I'm the only who would benefit from this. It would be for the benefit of all because the would be lesser traffic! Haha!

Also, not only public transportation vehicles but motorcycles as well. Well, the bad thing about them is that they drive like they own the road. Once you hit them, regardless whose fault it is, the one with the larger vehicles is the one at fault? Is that justice? There's no justice here in the Philippines! Sometimes, I would really, really wish that I was not born in this country. Especially if you're Chinese like me. People in public offices (police, etc.) tend to take advantage of you. They get money from you in any way that you can. See? Is that justice? Also, in the news last night, the reporter was reporting how GMA cheated in the 2004 elections. See with all these problems here in this country? For me, this country is hopeless. Open your eyes! Take a look at reality! Nothing is improving in this country anymore! (Well, maybe the peso to dollar exchange rate is improving.) People keep on saying that there is still hope. Well, I agree that this country still has hope if God helps this country. Because anything can happen because that's God. But, if you take a look at this country, I don't think that there will be much changes in the next 15 to 20 years. It will just grow from worse to worst. (Sounds pesimistic?) I'm just stating facts.

My First Life Journal!

This is the first time that I'll be writing a live journal. haha! When I get there, I have to fix a lot of stuff, especially, to renew my citizenship for it has expired 3 or 4 years ago. haha!
